Warsaw Youth Forum 2016 Business and Mercy is a fringe event of the World Youth Day in Cracow organized by the Żagle School (Polish: sails) for 16 to 19 year olds. We offer you:
- participating in an international conference on the topic of business world and mercy interactions, held at the University of Warsaw, entirely in English
- preparing an artistic performance for children patients of the Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw-Międzylesie
- a sports tournament
- a sightseeing tour of Warsaw and learning about its history.
The most important part of the Forum will be the conference at the University of Warsaw. We would like to discuss and mutually solve a number of cases in which the world of business and works of mercy meet. We believe that in the face of the tremendous social challenges such as hunger, thirst, lack of education, wars, contemporary forms of slavery, and degradation of the environment a cooperation of economy and mercy is indispensable. It is impossible to face this growing mass of problems that inhibit the socio-economic progress without an effort of mercy exerted by both small entrepreneurs and large corporations. At the same time we believe that “creativity in charity” requires vision, initiative, and energy – all that is specific for entrepreneurship and youthful spirit which move the world forward in both technology and charitable initiatives. Ultimately, the future and solution of the problems standing in front of the business world and a community carrying after the weakest hinges on personal choices of engaging in one or another field of study and work. The future of the economy and society depends on the particular decisions of today’s teenagers. These are decisions on taking up studies in one or the other subject, engaging in on or the other voluntary work, starting a family now or delaying it for the future. The sum of these individual, personal decisions influences the quality of relationships in our societies, the strength of the economy, and the way the weakest are being treated.
These are the subjects we would like to discuss during our lectures, workshops but first and foremost during case studies.
An event such as the Warsaw Youth Forum 2016 would not be complete without the occasion to actually perform acts of mercy. Thus, we will have the opportunity to prepare an artistic performance for children patients of the Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw-Międzylesie.
Another element of the event will be a sightseeing tour around Warsaw, the city that is for Poles a symbol of heroic fight, indomitability and sacrifice for the good of others.
Finally, the Forum will give you a chance to have fun during a sports tournament and a picnic in the gardens of the Żagle School.
